Ieva M. Augstums

Ieva has more than a decade of experience in business journalism and strategic communications, specializing in the financial sector. An expert in strategy, she provides strategic communications counsel for corporations and trade associations.

Before joining Purple Strategies, Augstums served as a director of corporate communications at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) in Washington, D.C. She worked with SIFMA’s leadership, federal relations and tax policy staff to research, develop and communicate core messages on issues related to financial regulatory reform.

Ieva also worked at the Associated Press, where she provided coverage and analysis of the run-up to the financial crisis, as well as reporting on regulatory reform development and implementation. Augstums was the AP’s lead reporter for AIG and Bank of America Corp. She also covered health care, insurance, energy, restaurants, and retail.

A native of the Midwest, Ieva has degrees in journalism and in English from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
